Roxanne, I am curious to see if you are as adventuresome as stating.
I have an enclosed algae bioreactor in patent pending.
If you follow reactors, BioCentric comes the closest to what I have. As a comparison, my “Algae King3″ is a little more expensive but requires less O&M with a longer lifespan, so in the long run it would certainly be of lesser cost and better control of CO2.
I have been a general contractor for 52 years in California with no problem on the mechanical side of developments. I do not know biology (algae).
I have been trying to get a JV or partner to work with me and bring this to commercial application. The sky’s the limit from there. I have ideas to employ many people but???
My first idea was to help start a non-profit women owned R&D with Univ. grads and senior students but so far, no luck. The PHD’s I talked to are too superior to deal with me(or, at least that is what I feel).
Do you have any ideas? If the R&D is owned by women, I understand many grants are available. Thanks, Dan
Oh I’m pretty adventuresome, Dan
Here are a few thoughts based on what you’ve shared above:
I believe you have the right idea to pursue a partner. I’d go a step further and attempt to acquire two partners to start. One a scientist, who is interested in advancing second generation biofuels, and the other a business-minded professional, who can help develop your organization from it’s seed stage through promising and beyond (this could even be a financial expert with org development ability, for example).
Are you networking in all of your technology-based organizations in CA? Ask if there is an organization that specifically specializes in helping entrepreneurs and inventors connect with the right people and resources to move your concept forward. In WI this organization is called The Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Network.
Your idea to start up as a non-profit, women-owned R&D to attract funding is creative, but is it in alignment with your purpose, values and vision? Honestly, if you could have it YOUR way, where do you want to see your innovation and organization in 5 years? What does success look like with regard to the value the Algae King3 is providing?
Now ask yourself, is it women owned?
Your financials should FOLLOW your dream and plan, NOT drive it. Things aren’t so much fun anymore when we allow this to happen, and the ship eventually sinks;)
Call me if you’d like to discuss.
